The interaction between extracellular ligands and membrane receptors plays a key role in cell signal transduction. Important regulators of cellular signal transduction are the spatial organisation of transmembrane receptors into large-scale molecular cluster arrangements and their internalisation from the cell surface into the cell interior. The MOSAIC technology (Multiscale-Origami Structures as Interfaces for Cells), developed in our group, enables the immobilisation of receptor ligands with accurate number, stoichiometry and precise orientation on DNA origami nanostructures (DON). This DNA-based platform will be used to address fundamental aspects of early cell signalling in living cells.
